May 2022: Description: Clark won the award for Outstanding Set Design and Construction at the Nevada High School Musical Theater Awards!

National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA)

Description: Two students from the Clark High School theater department have been selected as finalist within the 3rd round of the National High School Musical Theater Award Outstanding Lead Actress and Lead Actor at the Smith Center.

 

The following students have been selected as finalist:

  • SOPHIE HOFFMAN (Senior)
  • ELIJAH REYES (Junior)
  • BIANCA OLARTE (Junior)

On Saturday, May 7, all nominees for Outstanding Lead Actor and Outstanding Lead Actress will perform their solos for a panel of judges. The scores of the judges will be added to the scores of the video auditions. Through this combination of scores, the resulting finalists will perform their solos during the event on Sunday, May 8.

 

On Sunday, May 8, a new panel of judges will score the top Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress finalists following each of their solo performances during the event. The highest scores will determine the Best Actor and Best Actress going on to New York to participate in the Jimmy Awards®.

 

The winner of the Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress awards will represent NVHSMTA the third week of June in New York City at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards known as the Jimmy Awards®. They will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York, where they will receive professional instruction and compete with students from regional awards programs from across the country.

 

Tickets for the performance are on sale now and can be purchased by visiting www.thesmithcenter.com/highschool. An advance purchase price of $10 is available until 4/29. Tickets will cost $15 beginning on 4/30. We encourage you to invite your friends and family to attend this exciting event!
